What is the Baptist Association?
Many people who are unfamiliar with Southern Baptist life---perhaps even some people who have been Southern Baptists for years---have often asked that question. While the association has been defined in various ways, the simplest definition is "a self-governing fellowship of churches on mission."
The 59 churches, missions, new works and satellites comprising Northeast Louisiana Baptist Association (Ouachita Parish) and the 18 churches and 1 mission comprising Morehouse Baptist Association (Morehouse Parish) choose to join themselves in a partnership. While these churches and missions are diverse, they share a common goal. They are a family of churches, supporting, encouraging and caring for one another. They also share a common commitment to carry forth Christ’s mandate set forth in Acts 1:8, being witnesses of Jesus Christ both in their area as well as to the "uttermost part of the earth".
